PeopleSoft Functional Consultant – IT Specialist, State of New York

Overview

The State of New York utilizes PeopleSoft for enterprise resource planning (ERP) functions, including HR, financials, and administrative tasks. The project focuses on the NYBEAS Financials application for billing, payments, and general ledger operations.

Project Scope

Provide support for existing PeopleSoft applications, and assist in the design, upgrade, and implementation of solutions for the NYBEAS Financials application. Focus areas include billing, eBill Payment, AR, and GL.


Solution

V Group delivered comprehensive support and consultancy services, performing a range of both technical and functional tasks as part of the PeopleSoft project for the State of New York:
•    Techno-Functional Analysis: V Group assigned skilled PeopleSoft techno-functional analysts to perform both technical and functional roles, ensuring seamless operation and system enhancements.
•    Configuration & Troubleshooting: Set up and maintained configuration/base tables related to Billing, eBill Payment, AR, and GL modules, promptly troubleshooting any configuration issues to maintain operational continuity.
•    Fit-Gap Analysis & Functional Specifications: Conducted detailed Fit-Gap analysis to identify discrepancies between the current system and new requirements, followed by developing precise functional specifications for system modifications.
•    PeopleSoft Financials Customization: Modified PeopleSoft Financials using advanced development tools to cater to the client's unique needs, ensuring the system met the state's financial and operational requirements.
•    Requirements Gathering: Regularly communicated with end-users and stakeholders to gather project requirements and identify necessary system enhancements, ensuring user satisfaction and system optimization.
•    System Upgrades & Lifecycle Testing: Led the PeopleTools and PeopleSoft application upgrade, ensuring all modifications were tested thoroughly across the entire system lifecycle and fully documented for future reference.
•    Performance Tuning: Performed tuning on slow-running processes, significantly enhancing the system's overall performance.
•    Training & Documentation: Prepared and delivered comprehensive user training materials, equipping the client’s team to effectively use and maintain the upgraded system.
•    Leadership in Upgrade Activities: Provided techno-functional leadership throughout the system upgrade activities, ensuring project success within the defined timelines and objectives.
•    Status Reporting: Maintained clear communication with the client through weekly status reports, keeping all stakeholders updated on project progress and upcoming milestones.
