SQL Server Database Development Support, Maryland Health Benefit Exchange (MHBE)
Overview
The goal of the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange (MHBE) is to make health coverage affordable and more accessible for Marylanders. We are responsible for Maryland Health Connection, the state’s health insurance marketplace under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (ACA).
Project Scope
The State of Maryland: Maryland Health Benefit Exchange (MHBE) required a SQL Server Database Development Support for providing EDI data analysis, SQL reporting, development of database queries and business operations support services for the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange (HBX) system, helping in system maintenance and enhancements to meet the current business needs.
The Maryland Health Benefit Exchange (MHBE) created a website and call center operating under the name Maryland Health Connection (MHC). Through MHC, Maryland residents explore health insurance plans, compare rates, and determine their eligibility for advanced premium tax credits (APTC), cost sharing reductions (CSR) and public assistance programs such as Medicaid and the Maryland Children’s Health Insurance Program (MCHP).
Solution
The objective of the project included critical SQL Server Database Development Support for the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange (HBX) system for SQL Server database development support and in ETL processes including performing data migration and ETL data mapping related tasks.
V Group Inc. supported the client and understood the requirements and provided our support in line with the business goals. Primarily, we worked for the EDI operations team requirements and provided data analysis of EDI files and application tables, for a smooth flow.
In the next step, we created/modified SQL reports and queries, developed SQL stored procedures, and generated Ad-hoc queries and reports. Next in line, we also developed SQL scripts for the HBX application to support data fixes ensuring smooth functioning of the system. We also created report templates; automated queries/reports using SSRS.
Going ahead, we facilitated the client in performing query optimization and performance tuning requests. We also communicated with the MHBE IT team, business team and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions. With a strategic approach, we facilitated the client with their queries and performed the responsibilities with ease.
We helped in the creation and maintenance of deliverables with the input.
This was achieved via excellent team work, as we helped the client to co-ordinate the work in order by allowing them to interact with the other product teams and other stakeholders.
Served as a liaison between Agency and solution’s contract, V Group Inc. supported the client in providing EDI data analysis, SQL reporting, development of database queries and business operations support services for the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange (HBX) system, keeping up to date with the latest know-hows and trends.
