The New York State Department of Health Division of Nutrition's mission is to create an environment that empowers New Yorkers to make healthy eating and physical activity choices. The Division of Nutrition serves: low-income pregnant women, breastfeeding and new mothers, infants, and preschool children.
The State of New York: Department of Health, Division of Nutrition required Project Management support to manage the planning, design and implementation of mandated system enhancements to the WICSIS (WIC Statewide Information System) application which supports the WIC program for New York State and new software applications as well as enhancements to existing software applications, to support the needs and goals of the Division and its stakeholders.
The Division of Nutrition relies heavily on custom software applications in order to effectively and efficiently support many nutritional programs, including:
Women, Infant, and Children Food Nutritional Program (WIC)
Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP)
Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
The objective of the project included Project Management Support for implementing a project management strategy that effectively addresses scope, schedule, cost, quality, risks, resources, communication, and all other essential aspects of Project Management.
V Group Inc. supported the client and understood the challenges that were present in the existing system. These challenges were reviewed by the team to overcome them ensuring smooth transitioning of the system.
In the first place, we provided support in utilizing Project Management software and application lifecycle management software such as MS Project. We also worked closely with both the application development leads and program staff, maintaining effective communication with both technical and non-technical staff.
Moving ahead, with a streamlined approach we facilitated the client in conducting meetings, scheduling events, and overseeing the completion, review, and acceptance of the project deliverables. We also gave support in giving proper direction and managing project execution, performing effective change control, as and when they were needed.
Acting as a focal point, we did effective monitoring and control for projects and monitored, tracked and addressed issues and risk during each phase of the project deliverables. We also prepared status reports, and other summary and project reports, as per the requirement.
We performed all the given responsibilities with ease. This was achieved via excellent team work, as we helped the client to co-ordinate the work in order by allowing them to interact with the other product teams and other stakeholders.
Served as a liaison between Agency and solution’s contract, V Group Inc. supported the client in end-to-end Project Management successfully, keeping up to date with the latest know-hows and trends.
