Child Support DW/EIM BI - MDM & Analytics, NYS OTDA

Overview

The Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) supervises a wide range of programs that provide services and supports to low-income families and individuals. OTDA administers these programs through local social services districts or community-based organizations. OTDA manages numerous other programs directly through contracts and the provision of direct services. Applications for the several programs are made to local social services districts unless otherwise noted, who determine eligibility and work directly with the client.

Project Scope

The Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) needed a vendor to provide reporting data analysis and advanced reporting capability for the HSC EIM/ Business Intelligence Unit in support of the Child Support Data Warehouse project.

Solution

During the project, V Group was working closely with department’s team and provided leadership throughout the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Our team played a key role in connecting to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate the requirements for changes to current business processes, policies and information systems and the development of new business processes, policies, and information systems.

V Group was responsible to create business documentation (Business requirement documents, use cases, swim lanes, process documentation) that details the BI requirements and deliverables for reporting structures, reports, dashboards, and ad hoc tools following the requirements and protocol of the ITS EIM Division.

V Group also collaborated regularly with Department’s Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence technical team members and various Agency Business Owners to create Business Requirement documentation to assist in developing logical and physical dimensional data model reporting requirements and providing assistance in understanding the data requirements for proposed reporting. We conducted discussions with cross-functional teams (Application, Technology, and Enterprise Solution) and staff to ensure requirements are thoroughly and accurately documented and to design and document recommendations for improved business processes that enabled the organization to achieve its goals.

As a part of our project delivery our team was also supposed to create and execute test scripts, scenarios, and test plans to validate initial business requirements and report output through the DEV, QA, and PROD migrations testing for accuracy and sign-off on deliverables.
