Overview
The New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) is an executive agency in the state of New York, whose mission is to provide services and conduct research for those with intellectual disabilities and developmental disabilities. It is one of New York State’s largest agencies, with a mandate to provide services and supports to more than 130,000 people with intellectual or developmental disabilities and leads a workforce of more than 22,000 direct support staff, clinicians, nurses, researchers, and other professionals throughout the state. It operates 13 Developmental Disabilities Services Offices which operate group homes for the individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in its care. Prior to July 2010, the agency was named the Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities.
Project Scope
The New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) required a VB/MS Access/Oracle Development Support for developing applications including but not limited to writing programming code, developing database objects, developing user entry forms, and developing reports 2, in line with the project and business goals.
Solution
The objective of the project is to provide a continuous VB/MS Access/Oracle Development Consultancy Support for manipulation of data in Oracle databases, developing tables and queries in Microsoft Access, and developing forms in Microsoft Access VBA and/or VB5/VB6, aligned with the client’s business goals.
V Group Inc. provided support in software/application development tasks successfully. Primarily, we understood and captured the parameters, and the project was broken down into several components to ease the process of offering quality services.
With a methodical approach, we helped the client in VB/MS Access/Oracle development by developing Microsoft Access 2007 Applications using DAO 2. We also wrote technical and user documentation for a smooth flow of the project.
Moving ahead, we also developed Oracle databases, SQL/PLSQL scripts for Oracle database objects and did Microsoft VB.Net development successfully. Microsoft SharePoint development was also done, as and when it was needed. V Group’s support assisted in managing the scope as per the project requirement, as we kept on updating ourselves in line with the business requirements and project scope.
Served as a liaison between Agency and solution’s contract and helped the client in providing VB/MS Access/Oracle development for enhancing application, aligned with their business’ requirements reducing support overhead.
