Overview

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is a public benefit corporation responsible for public transportation in the New York City metropolitan area of the U.S. state of New York. The MTA is the largest public transit authority in the United States, serving 12 counties in Downstate New York, along with two counties in southwestern Connecticut under contract to the Connecticut Department of Transportation, carrying over 11 million passengers on an average weekday systemwide, and over 850,000 vehicles on its seven toll bridges and two tunnels per weekday.

Project Scope

MTA was looking for a System Analysis support and administration having experience in investigating, analyzing, designing, developing, and evaluating procedures and requirements for enterprise's IT systems. They also required a vendor having knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Windows Server and Red hat Linux Operating Systems as well as Oracle Databases from the perspective of application support, ability to write bash scripts to automate tasks in Linux and knowledge and experience with Client-Server applications. The vendor was specifically required to have prior experience in SQL (Structured Query Language), PL/SQL, Oracle Forms and Reports, Linux scripting in bash.


Solution

V Group as a prime vendor is currently responsible for the daily support and maintenance of MNR CSS (Central Support System .also known as the central brain behind the ticket vending machines) and related systems (CSSR, REVDW, Conductor Remittance, Tour Summary), including incident response when necessary. We are working with the vendor, Scheidt & Bachmann to apply patches and updates. Our team is working with internal customers (MNR PRA and Customer Service) to create and enhance, system-generated, custom, and ad-hoc reports. We retrieve and load data from MNR TIMS, MNR eTix, and Mail & Ride into CSSR for monthly GL reporting. V Group is assisting the business with month-end close activities.
