Overview
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is a public benefit corporation responsible for public transportation in the New York City metropolitan area of the U.S. state of New York. The MTA is the largest public transit authority in the United States, serving 12 counties in Downstate New York, along with two counties in southwestern Connecticut under contract to the Connecticut Department of Transportation, carrying over 11 million passengers on an average weekday systemwide, and over 850,000 vehicles on its seven toll bridges and two tunnels per weekday.
Project Scope
MTA was looking for a vendor to lead and assist in the development, implementation, and support of security architectures and solutions including security frameworks and roadmaps within the corporate business and Operational units across the MTA agencies.
Solution
V Group Inc. started off by determining security requirements after evaluating business strategies and requirements; researched information security standards; conducted system security and vulnerability analyses; studied architecture/platform; identified integration issues and prepared cost estimates.
As the next step, we planned security systems by evaluating network and security technologies; developing requirements for local area networks, wide area networks, virtual private networks, routers, firewalls, and related security and network devices; designs public key infrastructures, including use of certification authorities and digital signatures as well as hardware and software and adhering to industry standards.
We then implemented security systems by specifying intrusion detection methodologies and equipment; directing equipment and software installation and calibration; preparing preventive and reactive measures; creating, transmitting, and maintaining keys; providing technical support and completing documentation.
Lastly, we prepared system security reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends. We also tracked and understood emerging security practices and standards by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations.
Providing complete solution, V group Inc. secured enterprise information by determining security requirements, planning, implementing, and testing security systems with a team player environment.
