Project Management Support, North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services

Overview

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is a large state government agency in the U.S. state of North Carolina, somewhat analogous to the United States Department of Health and Human Services. The NCDHHS has more than 19,000 employees.

Project Scope

The DIT Project Management Office (PMO) had an immediate need to hire a vendor for project management support. DHHS was specifically looking for a vendor having state and local government experience along with experience in managing, organizing, prioritizing, and concurrently leading multiple IT projects. The vendor was expected to have experience with developing, managing, and monitoring the schedule for projects or multiple phases of a project and knowledge required to ensure the master schedule is followed and must be accountable for changes to the schedule.

Solution

V Group as a prime vendor is performing project management work involving the planning and coordinating of information technology projects within the services delivery organization. The deliverable involves critical, concurrent, smaller information technology efforts that are required to maintain operations and the business. We have the responsibility to prioritize and direct the work of other project members and to manage team activities to assure the best use of time and resources to meet defined objectives and deliverables. Projects managed by V Group sometimes include multiple technology disciplines (i.e., hardware, software, applications development, network infrastructure, etc.) and/or significant business process reengineering efforts.
