Power BI Development Support, Virginia Department of Taxation Management
Overview
Virginia Tax’s mission is to serve the public by acting ethically and efficiently in our administration of Virginia’s tax laws. 8 million citizens rely on more than $26.1 billion of revenue the Virginia Department of Taxation collects to fund government services that affect their daily lives. Virginia Tax, headquartered in Richmond, is responsible for administering 37 state and local taxes, including individual and corporate income taxes, sales and use taxes, and miscellaneous excise taxes with integrity, efficiency, and consistency.
Project Scope
Virginia Department of Taxation required a vendor for Continuous review and support of the new modernized data lake and Power BI data architecture and supporting in migrating high-priority reports to the Power BI reporting tool.
Solution
As prime vendor V Group Inc. was required to architect, analyze, design, and develop new Power BI reports under the direction of Virginia Department of Taxation management to support Business objects to Power BI migration project.
We took complete responsibility of their Power BI architecture data source management using data lakes, migration of reports to Azure cloud and made sure that the architecture and recommendations align to meet targeted business and technology objectives. Additionally, we consolidated and designed solution for migrating reports to Azure Cloud in Microsoft Stack.
Apart from this, V Group Inc. also supported in the following activities:
- Extracting data and generating reports to internal or external customer.
- Supporting daily ETL moving data from online transaction system to reporting datamart.
- Support reporting and reports dissemination functions via in-house .net application utilizing Business Objects RESTful web services.
