Mainframe Programming Support, North Carolina Department of Transportation

Overview

The N.C. Department of Transportation is responsible for all modes of transportation in the state, including highways, rail, aviation, ferries, public transit, and bicycle and pedestrian. NCDOT also includes the Division of Motor Vehicles, the Governor’s Highway Safety Program, North Carolina Ports Authority, North Carolina Global TransPark, and N.C. Turnpike Authority.

Project Scope

The department was looking for successful development and implementation of the Electronic Insurance Verification (EIV) project. The vendor was expected to develop SOAP-based web services in the mainframe environment.

Solution

V Group as a prime vendor is currently working within the Transportation-Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Systems/Liability Insurance Tracking and Enforcement System (LITES) section, which supports state and federal laws requiring liability insurance on registered vehicles.

We are responsible for the successful development and implementation of the Electronic Insurance Verification (EIV) project. The EIV project will improve roadway safety through better enforcement of vehicle insurance laws. The EIV projects require significant changes to the Liability Insurance Tracking and Enforcement System (LITES) for which V Group is playing a key role in terms of development. V Group's team is developing SOAP-based web services in the mainframe environment.

We are providing highly technical and complex analysis and programming for new development and maintenance/enhancements. This includes devising solutions to complex technical problems; following complex procedures; working independently with minimal supervision; investigating, researching, and implementing new technologies; performing diagnostics; and providing production support. The primary function of V Group is to develop and support a SOAP-based CICS web service that will be used to verify insurance coverage with selected insurance companies.
