Linux Support for Medicaid Data Warehouse Bureau, NYDOH
Overview
The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) is the department of the New York state government responsible for public health. It is headed by Health Commissioner Howard A. Zucker, M.D., J.D., who was appointed by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and confirmed by the State Senate on May 5, 2015.
Project Scope
The State of New York - Department of Health (NYSDOH) required Linux Support expertise for Medicaid Data Warehouse Bureau for large enterprise implementations using Linux.
The Medicaid Data Warehouse Bureau is the primary repository for Medicaid in New York State and is the main provider of Business Intelligence about Medicaid Data. The Bureau comprises of two functional areas, the Medicaid Data Warehouse (MDW) and the Medicaid Analytics Performance Portal (MAPP).
The MDW includes the Medicaid Information Services Center, a Data Warehouse, business Intelligence capabilities, reporting capabilities, and user support and litigation requests. MAPP includes Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP), Health Homes and Value Based Payment (VBP) projects.
Solution
The objective of the project included Linux Support for systems integrations involving multiple disparate mid-tier platforms including Red Hat Linux or enterprise Unix Environments.
To enhance the system aligned with the business requirements, the above Project was divided into several phases with a streamlined approach. At the start, we gave the much needed assistance in creating technical specifications. We also helped in reviewing and evaluating technical specifications ensuring compliance with business objectives and requirements.
With a strategic approach, we supervised / managed project vendor(s) / system integrator(s), ensuring integration of functionalities with other applications. We also created Logical and Physical Technology Models. Worked with Vendors and NYS (ITS) to support existing infrastructure and supported Enterprise Architecture review and governance, in line with the Project requirements.
V Group served as a liaison between Agency and solution’s contract to help the client to ensure complete, accurate and effective enhancements, implementation and management of the system using Linux, in alignment with the business goals.
