Cloud Architecture, Metropolitan Transportation Authority

Overview

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is North America's largest transportation network, serving a population of 15.3 million people across a 5,000-square-mile travel area surrounding New York City through Long Island, southeastern New York State, and Connecticut. The MTA network comprises the nation’s largest bus fleet and more subway and commuter rail cars than all other U.S. transit systems combined. The MTA's operating agencies are MTA New York City Transit, MTA Bus, Long Island Railroad, Metro-North Railroad, and MTA Bridges and Tunnels.

Project Scope

MTA’s Enterprise Architecture team was looking for an experienced Cloud Architect that will help grow their cloud capabilities by strategizing, defining, architecting, and leading modern cloud solutions.

Solution

As a prime vendor, V Group Inc. was responsible for supporting MTA’s clients to transform their business problems through cloud architecture solutions and assisting engagement teams through the analysis of specific business requirements for alignment with technology architecture, delivering quality client solutions, and communicating progress to client engagement teams.

With our extensive experience on cloud infrastructure providers (I.E. AWS, GCP, Azure) we were required to build solutions based on these capabilities. We oversaw migrating from legacy systems and deploying complex cloud-based solutions for MTA. Throughout the scope of work, V Group Inc. implemented DevOps and Agile standards and practices.

As a final step, we configured and tuned the cloud hosted solutions and platforms. Our ability to navigate complex organization politics has helped us build trust and credibility with the client.
