Analytical Support and Project Management, MTA

Overview

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is a public benefit corporation responsible for public transportation in the U.S. state of New York, serving 12 counties in Downstate New York, along with two counties in southwestern Connecticut under contract to the Connecticut Department of Transportation, carrying over 11 million passengers on an average weekday system-wide, and over 850,000 vehicles on its seven toll bridges and two tunnels per weekday. The MTA is the largest public transit authority in the United States.

Project Scope

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) required analytical support for the preparation of use cases, business processes, change management, technical training, software development methodologies, QA, and systems testing of client-server and web-based systems for analyzing administrative/operational processes and procedures, to facilitate the implementation of new systems or modifications to existing systems.


Solution

The objective of the project included analytical and project management support for identifying needs and evaluating potential business solutions in alignment with the business goals. V Group Inc. supported and understood the challenges and helped in adjudication processes, billing, and collections processes along with web application development, ensuring smooth transitioning of the system.

In the first place, we did Gap analysis, JAD session facilitation, process analysis, and documentation and documented functional specifications using the tools - Modeling notation (UML, Structured, BPMN), MS Visio, MS Project, JIRA, HPQC, etc. Also, in parallel, using the expertise of Agile software methodologies including the SCRUM framework, we elicited requirements from business users. Then, we helped in translating the requirements from the business users in the decomposition of the project scope into manageable units for developer requirements.

Adhering to industry standards, we helped in requirements gathering for multiple large scale projects by defining, creating, and executing test cases based on business requirements. For a smooth flow of the project, we also provided organizational communication, customer service, and quantitative skills, as per the requirement. Moving ahead, we facilitated the client in conducting a cost/benefit analysis of requested enhancements strong problem-solving skills, and eye for detail. With excellent time management skills and a team environment, we were able to meet tight deadlines.

Then, with a proactive approach, we worked with project management staff members to raise and resolve issues, set project deadlines, and mitigate project risks. Multitasking with a focused approach enabled us to define concepts, processes, and requirements successfully. This was achieved via excellent teamwork, as we helped to co-ordinate the work in order by allowing them to interact with the other product teams and other stakeholders. Served as a liaison between Agency and solution’s contract, V Group Inc. supported in planning, implementing, executing, and evaluating the project successfully, keeping up to date with the latest know-how and trends.


Technology
