Overview
The Mission of the New York State Office of Mental Health is to promote the mental health of all New Yorkers, with a particular focus on providing hope and recovery for adults with serious mental illness and children with serious emotional disturbances.
Project Scope
The State of New York: Office of Mental Health (OMH) required COBOL Consultancy Support to update Medicare, Medicaid, and Third-Party Health Insurance for inpatients for the Uniform Billing System (UBS) enhancements project.
Solution
The objective of the project included COBOL Consultancy Support to develop, monitor and maintain batch/online applications in an IBM z/OS environment using IBM COBOL, JCL, CA-IDMS, CA-ADS, in line with the client’s business requirements.
V Group Inc. supported the client and understood the challenges that were present in the existing system. These challenges were reviewed by the team to overcome them ensuring smooth transitioning of the system.
In the first place, we provided support by executing full software development life cycle (SDLC). Prepared database scripts; created/modified Oracle tables, packages, stored procedures, indexes, constraints, triggers, etc. Maintained and supported multiple batch-based data feeds/exchanges between Oracle and IDMS environments within the stipulated time and provided application support.
Moving ahead, with a streamlined approach we mentored and assisted programmers and provided guidance for debugging, troubleshooting, securing and deploying applications. Coordinated service requests with various ITS personnel for releases and changes for the application. Worked within the IT Service Management System to take in incidents for the application, as well as request services from other ITS groups.
In addition, we diagnosed and debugged production issues reported via ITSM and escalated critical calls. Documented technical requirements, solutions, etc. to facilitate Knowledge Transfer. Also, reported status of current tasks and outstanding issues to the supervisor.This was achieved via excellent team work, as we helped the client to co-ordinate the work in order by allowing them to interact with the other product teams and other stakeholders.
Served as a liaison between Agency and solution’s contract, V Group Inc. supported the client in COBOL Configuration and Administration successfully, keeping up to date with the latest know-hows and trends.
